Become a PAPPI Flight Center

Learning to fly a Paramotor is an exciting, fun and life-changing activity. One we believe that anyone should be able to experience.

As a IRS recognized 501c3 non profit public charity, the Professional Association of Powered Paragliding Instructors (PAPPI) exists to further this sport, and to give everyone an opportunity to experience The Freedom of Personal Flight.

Freedom of Flight Meets the Freedom of Lifestyle

Not only will you enjoy The Freedom of Personal Flight, but as a PAPPI Flight Center, you will experience the freedom of being self-employed. Does that interest you? Ever considered running your own business? Are you ready to:

  • Create your dream job?
  • Love what you do and be your own boss?
  • Get paid to fly PPG and help others transform their lives?
  • Hear people “ooh” and “ahh” when you tell them what you do for a living?

If you answered yes to any of these, then you’re ready to delve deeper into the world of self-employment by opening your own PAPPI Flight Center. A PAPPI Flight Center is the heart of the Paramotoring industry. As a Flight Center owner you’ll have the privilege and responsibility of introducing your community to the wonderful world of Powered Paragliding.

Already Have a School, But Want to Grow?

Great, that makes it even easier.

We can help any school that's serious about becoming more effective, efficient, and financially successful. But we learned early on that there are two kinds of school owners—those who are hungry to grow, and those who grow hungry. Anyone who says they don't want anymore students, isn't serious about business or this industry. And like in any business, you're either growing or you're dying. We can help existing schools re-tool and manage growth in ways they never imagined.

Why Partner with PAPPI?

Your Success Comes First. Starting your own business can be exciting and challenging. But it takes realistic business skills to succeed, especially in today’s market, which has far more sophisticated competition and customers than ever before.

PAPP offers support, consultation and benefits designed to help you succeed. No matter where you are in the world, you have a team of experts to help you achieve your goals. By partnering with PAPPI you receive:

  • Unparalleled educational programs that are instructionally valid and proven effective.
  • World-class brand recognition and sophisticated marketing and sales support.
  • Unsurpassed customer service and business knowledge.
  • Staff to support you and take a personal interest in the success of your business.

PPG Flightmaster

The PAPPI Flightmaster course is your first level of professional training. Working closely with a PAPPI Instructor, you’ll fine-tune your piloting and leadership skills. You’ll gain flying knowledge, industry knowledge, and learn significant management and supervision abilities. You will become a role model to PPG pilots everywhere.

The PAPPI PPG Flightmaster course teaches you to be a leader and take charge of PPG flight activities. Through knowledge development sessions, flightskills exercises, workshops, and hands-on practical assessment, you develop the skills to organize and direct a variety of PPG flying activities. Topics and practical workshops include:

  • The role and characteristics of the PAPPI Flight Master
  • Supervising flight activities and assisting with student pilots
  • Pilot safety and PPG risk management
  • Flightmaster conducted programs and specialized skills
  • Business of PPG flying and your career
  • Awareness of the flight environment
  • PPG flight planning, flight setup, and management
  • Conducting dive briefings
  • Organizing a search and recovery project and a high altitude flight

Assistant PPG Flight Instructor (AI)

The PPG Instructor Development Course (PPG-IDC) is made up of two parts: the Assistant PPG Flight Instructor (AI) course and the PPG Flight Instructor (PPGFI) program. Most dive professionals complete the entire IDC and go on to attend an Instructor Examination (IE), which is the final step to earn a PAPPI Instructor certification.

Successfully completing just the AI course portion results in a PAPPI Assistant Instructor qualification. When an AI is ready to progress, attending the PPGFI program allows entry into an IE to earn a full PAPPI Instructor rating.

Dive professionals who hold an instructor rating with another PPG organization may be eligible to enroll directly in the PPFGI program directly. This recognizes prior instructor training and provides a path to become a PAPPI Instructor.

A PAPPI Flightmaster who has been a certified pilot for at least six months, may enroll in the PAPPI Instructor Development Course. In addition to this basic requirement, you'll also need:

  • At least 60 hours of cumulative logged flight time, and at least 100 flights to attend an IE.
  • CPR and First Aid training within the past 24 months.
  • A medical release signed by a physician within the last 12 months.

PPG Flight Instructor

Over a minimum of fourteen days, the PPG-IDC teaches you to conduct all PAPPI core courses. You’ll be able to organize and present information, conduct skill development sessions and control PPF flights. You'll become a better public speaker and get really good at demonstrating skills while watching out for student pilot safety.

Key topics include, but are not limited to:

  • PAPPI Standards and Procedures for all courses you can teach.
  • The PAPPI Educational System.
  • Risk Management and Pilot Safety.
  • The Business of PPF Flying.
  • Your role as an instructor.
  • Marketing and PPF Flight and Sales Counseling.

As part of your IDC, you'll also be registered as an instructor to issue Advanced Level First Aid, CPR, and AED, ACLS, Emergency Medical Responder, Oxygen Provider, and Wilderness First Aid certifications to your students.

Upon completing your PPG-IDC, you'll be authorized to participate in a two-day Instructor Examination (IE), which is a comprehensive evaluative program that tests an instructor candidate’s teaching ability, flight theory knowledge, skill level, understanding of the PAPPI System, and attitude and professionalism. PAPPI IEs are standardized and conducted by specially trained PAPPI Instructor Examiners. The IE location, testing environment and examination sessions are organized to be as objective as possible to fairly and consistently evaluate a candidate’s abilities. Only those who meet the IE performance requirements earn the respected PAPPI PPG Flight Instructor certification.

There is a separate fee for attending an IE.
